Day 1
About 8.am from your place in Jakarta drive to Garut for about 5 hours via highway tol. on the way we will see some wonderful landscape of Rice Plantation and local villages in origin of west Java. Continue driving to Papandayan Mountain and check point at the entrance. walk to campsite for about 1 hour and prepare tent. enjoy the night view of the sky with beautifull milky way.

Day 2
Early in the morning about 5.00 am wake up and see an amazing sunset from campsite . Continue exploring active Crater, dead forest and hotspring. back to car park and drive to Jakarta.

We had a wonderful day with Ridwan and his driver. He is a very funny guide and knows much about the region and the volcano. Even it was raining, it was a beautiful walk through the jungle. The crater was very interesting to see and we had lunch directly there. Never had lunch on a volcano crater. Ridwans service was perfect,. Snacks and food was very good. He sent us much photos and a little video from the day. I highly recommend Ridwan.

We had an amazing experience with this tour. It poured the whole time but still very enjoyable. Ridwan was very friendly and we felt safe with him and our driver. It also was a great way to get out of the city and see the suburbs of Java, which was a really unique experience. Thanks Ridwan!

If you N Bogor, you must try this, plenty of activities you can do with Ridwan, he's a local with perfect English, knows how to tickle your feelings with his knowledge and experience as a guide, nice waterfall and crater area and worth every single penny I paid, moreover, he help take your pictures if you're solo traveler.

Fantastic way to spend a day! We traveled for the day from Jakarta which was simple with a direct train. Ridwan was there to collect us at the station and then we were on our way. The extra stops on the way to the hike were interesting and the hike itself was a lot of fun! The crater is breathtaking and being able to swim in one of the pools is an experience we've never had anywhere else. The waterfall on the way back down is also very refreshing (too refreshing for me to go all the way in!). Thanks again for a great day Ridwan, and we will fully recommend this hike to anyone we meet! If you make it to Bogor and you like a vigorous outdoor adventure, this is likely the best single day trip you can make. Having been to Indonesia eight times and with several trips to Bogor, this was by far my most enjoyable experience yet on the island of Java. After a nice visit to the rice paddies and rice mill, we set off with a ranger into the Mount Halimun Salak National Park. This is basically a jungle mountain wilderness with no roads and a few primitive trails. While not a difficult hike, it is mostly uphill through humid jungle over muddy, rocky trails with many stream crossings on logs and rocks. A bamboo hiking stick was provided and very much needed. At the top is a spectacular moonscape with many bubbling, steaming, hissing and gurgling pools, mud pots and fumeroles. Masks are provided to help with the sulfuric mist while you hike around the various features in the crater. We had lunch (provided) along with some fresh fruit we picked up at a roadside fruit stand on the way to the mountains. A dip in the warm spring nearby felt wonderful (see photo). Then we hiked back down a different route to a spectacular gorge and took a cool dip in the plunge pool. This was heavenly and it felt great to rinse off a few layers of sweat and mud.
Ridwan is an excellent guide and ensured I had a good time and I appreciated his knowledge of the area and its jungle environment. He took many photos with my camera and his own and provided a nice video (no charge) documenting the trip. Our driver was also a cool guy and I enjoyed having coffee and snacks with him while on the road and after the hike. Once again, if you like the outdoors, you will find this to be a spectacular and very satisfying day, thanks to the great tour put together by Ridwan.

The day with Ridwan was amazing. He takes care of the whole group and gives extra information about so many things. There is even vegan food available. Highly recommended, definitely an experience I don’t want to miss.

The tour was beautiful and I couldn't wish for a better guide than Ridwan. He is really nice, takes a lot of pictures to send you afterwards and he also took care of me when I wasn't feeling well on the way there because of a mild food poisoning. He made sure we were safe and had enough to eat and drink, so we could experience the beautiful jungle and crater the best way possible!

I did visit Bogor few weeks back, it was disappointed with the place...before i had decided to go on trekking for Mt. salak...surprisingly it was nicest thing to do in bogor...and also we were fortunate enough for getting the company of Mr. Ridwan...he was super sweet...he gave us our pace and time to climb up to the top...speaks fluent english..carries food and water for us all the way up to the top...and he also took some stunning pictures for us...he made the journey all the more so memorable...thanks Ridwan for an amazing trip :)

We had a wonderful day! The trip to the crater was pretty tough, but it was definitely worth it. The waterfall and ricefields were also beautiful. Ridwan was very nice and helpful and he taught us a lot.
